Summer 2016 Capsule Wardrobe

Karin Rambo of truncationblog.com shares her summer 2016 capsule wardrobe

It’s my fifth capsule wardrobe you guys! FIFTH.

Where has time gone??

You’ll probably notice that this capsule is quite a bit different than last summer’s capsule. If you read my post last Mondayyou’ll know why.

But while I did end up selling quite a bit of last summer’s clothing, a lot of it has been re-purposed into my other capsules.

Here’s the thing, I’m going to be completely candid with you for a second: If I knew then what I know now about ethical fashion I probably wouldn’t have gotten rid of as much as I did.

But as the very wise Stephen Colbert says, “It’s our choice, whether to hate something in our lives or to love every moment of them, even the parts that bring us pain.”

Yeah? So good. I’m holding on to that for more than just my capsule wardrobes.

So after a year of capsuling I’m at a place where I am confident that I will be living with my current wardrobe for a very long time… and that makes me pretty darn happy.

Some specifics about this summer capsule:

I knew going into this capsule that I wanted a lot less to deal with and I wanted it to be pretty casual.

This summer is going to bring with it a lot of hard work and changes as we’ll be moving in August (if all goes according to plan). Because of that I wanted to have fewer, more practical clothing choices.

In other words, I wanted this capsule to work for me and not against me.

This capsule is also a mix of really old and some newer choices… which is kind of my vibe in general. So I have some vintage pieces mixed in with some great, new ethical options.

Okay that’s it! I’ve got all the details listed below for you guys in case you’re interested. What do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

*Disclaimer: My clothing is mostly thrifted/many seasons old. In light of that, I tried to find clothing to link to that was as similar as possible. For some items I simply couldn’t find an ethical fashion item that was a close enough match, so I matched something that I thought had a similar vibe.

I love this! Thank you for the links to ethical options! I am working on rebuilding my wardrobe currently, so those will definitely come in handy! I love the color palette you have chosen for summer. It looks a lot different than your previous wardrobes, but still you.

Looks like a great summer wardrobe! Can’t wait to see how you put it together. Do you like the Ryan tank from Everlane? Is it see through? I have been thinking about getting one, but I don’t want to buy it if I have to layer it cover a cami. I bought the linen tank from Everlane and have to do just that which makes it kind of warm in the summer. How exciting on your house sale and move! Would love to hear about what you’ll be doing next. Buying a new home? Moving to a different city? I don’t envy your move though….when we moved in 2013 I said I would never do it again! Ha! Have a lovely week! 🙂

Looks like a lot of comfortable and cute options for the summer. I love that midi tank dress. That’s exciting to hear that you are moving! Are you staying in state or moving somewhere different? Looking forward to hearing more about it.

Oh I would love to wear overall shorts but in my opinion they don’t look good on me. Also you chose some awesome stuff, they look very cool. Especially the leather jacket 😉😊

I heard about this capsule wardrobe idea from Vivianna (of ViviannaDoesMakeup) and I’ve seen so many people engaging with it which is amazing! I don’t know that I could buy clothes so often. I wear the same clothes each season and just change a few things, but I loooove the idea! xx Adaleta Avdic
