Flexibility and Adaptibility

Hi there!  My name is Karin and this is the story about my journey towards finding contentment with less. I’m mama to a sweet toddler named Kit, twin girls Rosie and Ella, and the proud wife of my other half David.  We have a mini dachshund named Oscar and that’s our little family!  I have my Master’s in Theology, love long philosophical discussions, love literature (especially classic), cooking and feel the most free when I’m in nature.  Oh, and I love fashion.  However, in May of 2015 I realized that the balance of my interests was thrown off and I was spending more time on fashion than on anything else.  So I decided to try out the whole capsule wardrobe concept so that I would have more time for my other passions.  You can read more about it here.

Since that decision, I’ve become more focused on sustainable fashion and how that can best be represented in my life. I’ve also branched out into other areas of my life and now try to live as “simple” a life as I can.

But more importantly, Truncation has evolved over time. I’ve realized that my greatest passion (besides being a wife and mama) is to inspire others to find value in their simple, ordinary lives and to inspire a community mindedness in how we relate to each other. I hope to do this by encouraging others to think outside of themselves and to focus less on “stuff” and more on people.

And I believe that a smaller wardrobe and fewer possessions leave room for us to notice ourselves and others. Period. I firmly believe that and I’m calling b.s. on anyone that says a maximalist can do that in the same way that a minimalist can.

I’m calling this project Truncation. Why? Because in math it is the process of limiting the number of digits to the right of the decimal point by discarding the least significant digits. And that’s what I’m doing. Clearing out all that isn’t significant.

But let’s make this a community effort! I would love it if you joined me on this journey.

He’s busy causing mischief and couldn’t be bothered for a picture. 🙂
